In recognition of National Vietnam War Veterans Day, the City of Coronado and Naval Base Coronado are honoring local Coronado Vietnam veterans with a free base tour and lunch on Thursday, March 28.
Interested Vietnam veterans should call the City at (619) 522-7300 to be placed on the reservation list as space is limited. National Vietnam War Veterans Day is observed every March 29.
The event will begin at Spreckels Park in Coronado at 10 a.m. and last approximately four hours with lunch on the Navy Base. The tour will require light walking and a few steps to enter and exit the bus. The bus tour will be narrated and hosted by Navy personnel with visits to Naval Air Station North Island and Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.
Each participant will receive the U.S. Vietnam Veteran lapel pin, commissioned by Congress to thank and honor military veterans who served during the Vietnam War.
