The Coronado Historical Association’s Historic Walking Tour is one of the best ways to experience the history of Coronado. When you slow down, you have a chance to see, hear, and remember this place that Hollywood stars, princes, and presidents have enjoyed. Everywhere you look in this charming beach town, you find history. And, that history is easiest to see on foot. Every tour purchase supports the Coronado Historical Association (CHA) and its mission. The tour is offered on Sundays at 11 am and Thursdays at 1pm, leaving from the CHA at 1100 Orange Avenue. Tours are approximately 90 minutes and two miles at a comfortable pace. The Official Hotel Del Coronado Tour includes a historical walk through the grounds of the Victorian style Hotel and is the only tour approved and available and sanctioned by the hotel management where you are also allowed inside the hotel. The tour is operated by the Visitor Center and the Coronado Historical Museum. The tour begins in the front of the Grande Hall of the Hotel Del Coronado Tuesdays and Fridays 10:30 am, Saturday, and Sunday at 2:00 pm. The City of Coronado’s Public Art Tour is a tour is a public tour for all and it is Free! This tour was created to promote awareness and appreciation of the arts. You can also make up your own private and personnel tour. It is only 7 miles around the perimeter of a Coronado, including going under the bridge and to the end of the Shores condos. It is about a 2 hour walk, however it is worth taking the time to see all of the unexpected things that you might enjoy while walking around on your own. It is a beautiful tour that includes all sides of the island including from the Bay to the Beach and back.
