Last week was filled with action and close matches for the girls’ golf team, who played against three schools.

On Tuesday, Scripps Ranch High School came down to Coronado for “a very close match,” as Coach Gordon called it. The score totaled 224 strokes for Coronado and 202 strokes for Scripps Ranch. Despite the 22-stroke margin, the pair scores were very close. In each match, one opponent pair plays with another pair. The first Scripps Ranch pair had scores of 38 strokes, while Coronado’s first pair had one score of 38 strokes and another of 40 strokes. Crista Izuzquiza was named medalist of the match for Coronado.

Wednesday’s match proved less difficult for Coronado as they went to Mission Trails Golf Course to play Patrick Henry High School. A very strong match for Coronado, they were able to close the match with only 218 strokes. Their opponents did not do as well with 277 strokes.

Coronado then played Academy of Our Lady of Peace at Riverwalk Golf Course for their last match of the week. Once again, they encountered another close match, having a score of 230 strokes. With home course advantage, OLP was able to close out with only 214 strokes. Crista Izuzquiza, however, was once again named medalist of the match, shooting a score of 36.

The season record is now 8 wins to 5 losses.
