Port of San Diego Earns Platinum Award in International dotComm Awards Competition

The Port of San Diego has been honored with a Platinum Award in the Government Website Category by dotComm Awards, an international competition recognizing excellence in web creativity and digital communication.

The Port received the award on August 6, 2018 for the creativity of the new Port website, launched in early 2018, as well as the ease it provides for the public in accessing information pertaining to the Port.

“The Port of San Diego seeks to be a leader in transparency and our website is an essential tool in providing the public with the information they seek about this agency,” said Port of San Diego CEO Randa Coniglio. “This award demonstrates our commitment to using technology as we continue our transformation into a 21stCentury Port.”

The award categories used in dotCOMM’s criteria represent various elements of the web’s evolving tools. Interactivity, content, design, social media, video, apps, blogs and influencers are all important components of digital communication, marketing and advertising campaigns to generate customer engagement and brand awareness.

“The Port’s Marketing & Communication Department is very deserving of this award for developing a website that offers high functionality for users and extensive information about our dynamic waterfront,” said Job Nelson, the Port’s Assistant Vice President – External Relations. “I’m proud of all the time and effort that Port staff invested in this outstanding website and its content to better serve the public with timely information about the Port, organized in a way that is easy to navigate.”

The dotCOMM Awards competition is hosted and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMPC). The internal organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production and freelance professionals. AMPC oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges and rewards outstanding achievements and service to the profession.
