A new car wash service has opened at 150 C Avenue to replace the previous business Car Wash of Coronado. Earlier this month, Allen Zoura opened Bay Side Auto Spa which specializes in washes and detailing of your car. Prices start at $10.
We asked Allen a few questions to learn more about his business and why he chose this location:
Please share your bio and why you chose Coronado to open up this business.
I am a young first time business owner with a love for cars and have always dreamed of having my own car wash. I didn’t really choose Coronado it actually kind of chose me. I use to go to the car wash in Coronado and get washes all the time, being that I was a resident of Imperial Beach. Then it happened that I went for my regular wash and saw that it was closed and available for lease. I love the area , love the people, and love the business, so it was a perfect fit.
What happened to the last car wash? Will this car wash stay in business for the long term?
I really don’t have a exact answer for the last owners, being that I never dealt with them. This car wash location has been owned by the same guy since 91′ and the last guys were just tenants (just like us). I hope this business stays for the long term.
Describe the services and cost for what you offer?
For the time being we are offering two types of services. 1 is a full service hand wash (no machines) which includes exterior/interior tire dressing, air freshener, wheel cleaning, inside windows and wipe down of inside dash and doors. This wash is priced from $15-20 depending on vehicle size etc. Our second wash is a exterior wash only, which is also a hand wash and includes tire dressing and wheel cleaning as well. This wash is priced from $10-15 dollars depending on vehicle size. We are offering the hand washes now because we gotten a lot of feedback from previous customers about the machines not doing a great job. Machines will never do a better job then humans can and we’re trying to bring back the old fashioned hand wash. We will soon offer the machines after hours if people would like to just get a drive thru wash when attendants are unavailable.
When are you open? Hours of operation?
We are open everyday from 9-5pm.
Will you honor the previous owner’s certificates for pre-paid car washes?
I have heard a lot about the previous business certificates that were not honored. It’s sad what has happened to those customers. We have found out that there are roughly 7-10 thousand dollars in certificates that have not been redeemed. A lot of the customers were sold these certificates weeks before the previous owners closed! Being that the amounts are so high, I wouldn’t be able to honor these certificates because it would probably put me out of business my first month. But, what I can do is offer anyone with certificates half off of any detail services that we offer, which can save them at least $100. I wish I can do more but at this point that’s all I can offer.
