The worlds largest airship, the Airship Ventures Zeppelin “Eureka” has become a regular sight in the sky in a number of major locations in California – San Francisco Bay, Monterey, Los Angeles and Long Beach. Early in 2010, she flew for the first time to San Diego to provide TV coverage for Farmers Insurance at the Torrey Pines Open. However, unlike the smaller blimps that you are used to seeing as aerial billboards and camera platforms, the Zeppelin also carries fare paying sightseeing passengers in luxurious style! “Eureka” is the only commercial passenger airship in the USA, so if you have had ‘flying on an airship’ on your bucket list forever, you now have a chance to cross it off – without needing to know someone at Goodyear! The Zeppelin returns to San Diego on April 3 (this Saturday) for sightseeing flights and Airship Ventures is expecting to make San Diego a regular part of the schedule

Imagine flying at 1000ft above San Diego Bay, with incredible aerial views of Petco Park, downtown San Diego, the Navy bases and ships, Pt Loma and Coronado. Although Eureka is longer than a 747, it cruises at a gentle 35mph, with just the sway of air currents to remind you that the views outside the window are real– this is not IMAX 3D CGI! You can walk around and stick your head out of the window, talk to the pilot and there’s even a restroom aboard with a window so you don’t miss a thing!
We’ve managed to hitch a ride on Saturday to be able to tell you all about it, and we understand that there are still some seats available. Prices start at $199 per person plus taxes for the 30 minute flights and reach $950 per person plus taxes for the premium two hour tour. This looks like it will be the trip of a lifetime. You can email reservations here or call 650 969 8100 x 111 to inquire about availability and make your bookings. We hope to see some of you aboard!
