  • Cora-Mart Update: An architect, working on behalf of the owner of the Cora-Mart building, has submitted an application for a “Determination of Historic Significance” with the City. The applicant will go before the Historic Resource Commission at a meeting on July 18 for a hearing to determine whether the building meets the criteria to be designated as a Historic Resource, in order to allow the architect to appropriately plan for future improvements at the site. It is unknown whether the owner plans to alter or demolish the building, which was built in 1938 as an A&P Food Store. In 1963, Cora-Mart began remodeling the building and opened it as Cora-Mart in 1965. It has been vacant since 1996 and will require extensive upgrades to be brought up to current City building codes.

  • Transbay Pump Station Project – Phase 1:  The contractor on the Transbay Pump Station project began night work this week and started replacing valves and piping on the suction side of the pumps at the Transbay Pump Station located at The Ferry Landing Marketplace. The work is taking place at night during pump station shut downs. This also minimizes inconvenience to the nearby businesses. Staff is coordinating the work with the Navy as it is required to perform a sewage hold to allow the system to be shut down. All work is expected to be completed by the end of July.
