On behalf of Cathy and Gregg Anderson and my husband Casey, I would like to thank all of the concerned and caring citizens of Coronado who attended the public forum on May 30th regardless of which side of the transitional housing issue they were on.

I would also like to thank former Mayor Casey Tanaka for moderating the forum as well as Mayor Richard Bailey; Dan DeSaegher and Susan Munsey of Generate Hope; Deanna Sephn from Senator Toni Atkins’ Office and Javier Gomez from Assemblyman Todd Gloria’s Office for attending and answering questions. I have received much positive feedback about the forum and feel the citizens of Coronado were served well by the second public forum that they expected would take place.

I am however very distressed by the letter to the editor that Brad Gerbel wrote to The Coronado Times stating that the Andersons and the Blitts spoke of picketing the house of the Hansen Mansion owner.  This statement could not be further from the truth.  We never have said any such thing and it is not something that we would ever even consider doing or advocating that anyone else do.  I am shocked that he would make such an outrageously false statement since from what I know he is a citizen of integrity.  He was one of the leaders of the effort last summer to oppose the proposed beach bike path that would have destroyed Coronado’s beautiful beach and I for one thank him for his leadership on that issue.  I ask him now to retract his statement that we spoke of picketing.
