Over 125 Fans Donated to Coronado Schools to Help Keep Kids Cool

There is a local Facebook group in Coronado that continues to help fill needs around town – all on their own. In the past, they have helped raise funds for the Silver Strand PTO, replaced a stolen bike, donated supplies to a school in need over the bridge and even distributed signs to remind drivers to “Please Slow Down”.

As the temperatures rose last week, the non-AC classrooms of Coronado were hitting the high eighties making it very hard for students to concentrate while learning. Coronado Happenings member Brad Gerbel asked the group if they would be willing to help buy fans for these “overheated” classrooms. Within one day, Brad helped to organize group members to purchase over 125 fans and then deliver them this morning to CUSD for distribution.

Brad said, “I was baffled to hear that our ‘new’ buildings don’t have air conditioning. I think our community is big enough and strong enough to get together and solve the no AC problem in our school buildings.”

The Coronado Happenings Facebook group is currently private, but you can request to be added or learn more by clicking here.
