Rylie (age 7), along with her friends, Mackenzie (age 10) and Camden (age 9), raised over $100 for PAWS of Coronado by selling Rylie’s grandmother’s costume jewelry at a “makeshift roadside stand” in the Coronado Cays. Rylie initially became familiar with PAWS in 2007 when her family adopted a dog. She has learned about the joy and happiness pet adoption brings to a family.
The three girls spent many gleeful hours, over a number of months, enticing passersby to purchase their wares with the goal of raising money for PAWS. Among the many jewelry buyers was Doris Besikof, a local artist, who incorporates used pieces of jewelry into her modern designs.
Rylie was enthusiastic about the girls’ success. She decided to take their success to the next level. At her 7th birthday party, Rylie chose to ask guests for donations to PAWS in lieu of presents. She received cat and dog animal toys, food and even a donation to Wag-n-Tails from party attendees as well as almost another $100 in cash for PAWS.
In February, during the PAWS of Coronado Valentine’s Day party, Rylie happily presented the donations to Karen Dwinell of PAWS. Rylie is busy thinking about her next charitable project.
PAWS would like to extend a very sincere THANK YOU to Rylie and her friends!
