Tony Isabella Named Head Football Coach in Coronado

Coronado High School Announces the Hiring of Tony Isabella as Head Football Coach for the Islanders!

Dear Coronado Unified School District Faculty and Staff:

It is my pleasure to announce the hiring of Tony Isabella as Head Football Coach of Coronado High School. This fills the vacancy of retiring CIF 2010 Meritorious Coach of the Year, Bernard “Bud” Mayfield. Coach Isabella is currently the Varsity Women’s Softball Coach and has years of successful coaching experience for Coronado Pop Warner, Coronado High School Freshman Team, and most recently, Varsity Defensive Line Coach for Eastlake High School.

Understanding that transitioning from an established and successful 25 year coaching legend will be difficult, Coach Isabella is excited to work alongside the staff and student body to honor the traditions of Islander Football. Coach Isabella plans to begin immediately to develop sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline for every student/athlete who desires to play football at CHS. He will also continue to be involved with community activities that establish a sense of community pride in the entire sports program.

A five-member committee led by CHS principal Karl Mueller assisted with interviewing Coach Isabella earlier this month. The committee recommended Isabella as the preferred candidate, and as Superintendent, I endorse this recommendation.

Please join me in welcoming Tony Isabella to our District as Head Football Coach of Coronado High School. I am sure this will be an exciting year for football for the Islanders!

Jeffrey P. Felix, Ed. D.
Superintendent
Coronado Unified School District
