INDIVIDUAL AUGMENTEE FAMILY BEACH BASH
WHAT: Commander, Navy Region Southwest Morale, Welfare, and Recreation will be hosting the First Annual Individual Augmentee Beach Bash. Individual Augmentee Sailors who have been or will be deployed, “Boots on Ground”, on a Global War on Terror Support Assignment and their families will be in attendance.
WHEN: This Saturday, August 28, 2010, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
(Media covering event must RSVP and need to arrive by 11:30 a.m. to be escorted to the site)
WHERE: Naval Air Station, North Island (Breakers Beach)
WHO: Welcome remarks will be presented by Captain Yancy B. Lindsey, Commanding Officer of Naval Base Coronado.
WHY: To express the gratitude to all prior and future Individual Augmentee and
their families for their support during their assignment/deployment.
This is an opportunity for Individual Augmenttee and their families to come and enjoy food, entertainment, surf lessons, and many other recreational activities.
INDIVIDUAL AUGMENTEE:
In contrast to a Sailor that deploys with a ship, squadron or unit, a Sailor who leaves their assigned unit or command to deploy individually or with a small group is known as an Individual Augmentee (IA). Most IAs are concentrated in the U.S. Central Command region, which includes Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
