Well, the public on Wednesday will have two opportunities to see the three competing designs, all of which would use wind turbines for energy.
The Port Commission agreed in late 2008 to partner with the state Department of Transportation to light the 2.1-mile bridge and to spend $50,000 for the design phase.
The preliminary cost of the lighting project is estimated at up to $5 million. Port officials say they will fund it through private sources, such as grants and fundraising. Once funding is secured, a study on the project’s feasibility will be conducted.
