CMS Surf Team Finishes Strong at Ocean Beach Competition

The Coronado Middle School surf team headed to Ocean Beach (Avalanche) to compete in the first tournament put on by Scholastic Surf Series.  They placed 6th out of nine teams and three individuals made the final for boys and girls longboard.  Rylie Brenden placed sixth and Jesse Hill placed fifth in their final and Shane Gillard placed sixth in his final.

Coach Mike Gillard is coaching the CMS squad this year and commented on the extremely difficult conditions of the event:  “Big challenging conditions and everyone gave it 100%”.  Their next event will be November 18th at Oceanside Harbor.
