Has everyone forgotten the “Elephant in the Room?” We live on a beautiful, small island.

A large portion of this island is inhabited by the U.S Navy. They are our friends as well as neighbors and, as in any neighborhood, we must deal with each other. Military and civilian leaders, by necessity, do not always think alike. As a retired veteran I value the experience and skills Marvin Heinze has acquired as a senior, career, Navy officer.

My main concern is that our city council have at least one member who pretty much knows ahead of time how our Naval neighbors will react/ respond to actions taken by our community. He has been there and done that. The Navy is our biggest Coronado employer and we need very close cooperation when dealing with problems such as traffic, utilities, disaster preparedness and mutual aid. Having Captain Heinze on the Council will ensure that the city is negotiating from a position of knowledge. Please join me in voting for Marvin Heinze as the best qualified candidate for Coronado City Council.

Dr./Col. Jon E. Schiff, USAR (Ret.)
