Make-A-Wish® San Diego is proud to present the 9th Annual Amazing Race for Children’s Wishes. Hosted by Yacht Clubs for Wishes: the Coronado Yacht Club, Navy Yacht Club, and the Coronado Cays Yacht Club; this fundraising event is modeled after the TV show “Amazing Race,” and includes a variety of team challenges for bike followed by a post-race celebration. The event has been shared over the years between CYC and CCYC and this year it is back at the Coronado Yacht Club on Sunday, May 7. An auxiliary event, the 3rd annual electric boat event challenge will take place at the Coronado Cays Yacht Club on Saturday, April 15.
Since 2008, the San Diego Yacht Club Community has gathered together, originally just the three Coronado Yacht Clubs, to raise funds for Make-A-Wish. The first year was quite amazing in its own right, raising enough funds to grant three wishes. Each year has been a little bigger with last year raising enough to grant almost 20 wishes.
The organizers have pulled out all the stops this year by bringing in Dagmar Midcap from Channel 7 News and Weather as the Emcee for the day’s events as well as taking advantage of an ex-San Diegan Bill Menish (former Channel 7 News Anchor and Auctioneer Extraordinaire) being in Southern California for the weekend.
A record breaking number of bike teams are signed up for the main event and for the electric boat teams for one of the supporting events. When you add up the teams, volunteers and local attendees, upwards of 500 people are expected to attend. Not just any people – these are mostly Coronado people.

Please join us on April 15th for the Electric Boat event at CCYC, April 18th at Spiros Greek Cafe for a full day of fun, music, eating and donations, April 22nd at the Tommy Bahama store in UTC where a portion of the daily sales will go towards our event and Make-A-Wish, and of course on May 7th at CYC for the BIG Event!!
