Coronado Rotary Four-Way Speech Contest High School Finalists

The Annual Rotary Four-Way Speech Contest, providing scholarship prizes to high school students, is underway. The speeches are based on the “Four-Way Test” principles followed by Rotary International.

Coronado Rotary Club judges initially selected four Coronado High School students from 16 contenders. These students presented their speeches to Rotarians at a recent meeting. First Place and $200 was awarded to Owen Shaffer who spoke about his creation of Sailing/STEM curriculum for Coronado Middle Schoolers. Second Place and $125 was awarded to Angela Ahern who spoke about child marriages particularly in the Third World. Naya Tamariz and Cole Mullins received finalist awards of $75 each. Naya spoke about her passion for baking and Cole spoke about his love of running. Owen and Angela will be representing the Coronado Rotary at the next level of the contest.
