RSVPs are pouring in, and excitement is building for the upcoming Celebrating Coronado History gala, February 22, at the Coronado Marriott. The Coronado Historical Association promises a most enjoyable evening. This year, they’re inviting guests to re-live “Those Times in Tent City,” as headliners Gerry MacCartee and Nancy Cobb entertain guests with colorful stories and vintage photographs, bringing to life the story of Tent City in Coronado. And although cocktail attire is the official dress, we hear there might be a few guests in period dress lining up at the bar!
Touted by many as “America’s finest resort”, Tent City provided nearly 40 years of summer fun, from 1900 to 1940. This was not just a campground, it was a fully operating small village, supplying daily maid and mail service, on site newspaper publishing, and endless entertainments and activities. Come step back with Gerry and Nancy, and re-live “Those Times in Tent City” .
