The Venetia was built in Leith, Scotland and was launched in July 1903. It was designed by Cox & King for its English owner and was purchased later by George Elkins, who sold the yacht to Mr. Spreckels. Some of her itinerary: From New Orleans through the West Indies and the Straits of Magellan. One of many stops, she anchored in the channel near the Coronado shore for five days and then made her way to San Francisco.
