TEDMED leaving Coronado for D.C.

After three years in Coronado, TEDMED is leaving the San Diego area for Washington, D.C., in 2012, the owners of the annual conference said.

“The Nation’s capital is the natural and obvious place for TEDMED because it is the vital center of America’s health research funding, regulation (and) policy,” said Jay Walker, the founder of Priceline.com who heads the investor group that acquired the conference in April.

“Holding TEDMED’s annual conference at the health and medicine capital of the world will amplify the voice of the TEDMED community, bringing TEDMED to a larger stage where the members of our community can provide a much-needed national service,” he said.

This year’s edition of the high-brow gathering ended Friday at the Hotel del Coronado.
