Coronado students “Survived and Thrived” in CSF’s 2010 Telethon and are preparing for this year’s “Survival of the Fittest” fundraiser on March 16th!
Coronado- Mark your calendar for the 23rd Annual Coronado Schools Foundation Telethon, “Survivalof the Fittest” on March 16th from 5-9pm at Coronado High School (CHS), presented by Time Warner Cable with a goal of raising $160,000 for the five public schools in the Coronado Unified School District.
This fun-filled fundraiser and community event will kick off with the CHS Drum Line and fanfare in the CHS Quad, where it will be filmed LIVE for the first 45 minutes. Senior Hosts and roving reporter Fred Eckert will highlight cheerleaders, Coronado alumni, local community and business leaders, parent teacher organizations, school administrators and students as they take part in the many games and activities available for all ages (game tickets sold on site). Plan to feast on Village Pizzeria pizza and MooTime ice cream in the CSF Food Court, and enjoy barbequed burgers, hot dogs and baked goods in support of the CHS Senior Class.
Take your seats in the CHS Performing Arts Theatre where the Telethon continues live Onstage at 5:45 (theatre doors open at 5:15 pm) with the NJROTC Islander Company Cadets performing with Village and Silver Strand Elementary students. Our celebrity host, Jane Mitchell, Channel 4 San Diego, will be joined by school administrators, teachers and more than 1,000 students as they showcase their entertaining talents. You won’t want to miss the big finale when CHS Battle of the Bands winner “Yacht Rock” raises the roof just before revealing our final tally!
While the Telethon celebrates our talented students, it is a FUNDRAISER. Underwritten by generous local businesses, all funds raised support Technology Resource Teachers at each campus, Visual & Performing Arts programs, Science & Math enrichment, and Professional Development for our dedicated teachers. These programs, no longer adequately funded by the State, are crucial in providing Coronado public school children with a balanced education that enables them to excel in our complex world.
Donate Today! All donations of $250 or more will be eligible to win a longboard, courtesy of Island Surf, and other fun prizes at the $500 and $1,000 levels. EVERY donation is appreciated and donornames will be announced during the Telethon.
Make your online donation today at www.csfkids.org to ensure the survival of educational excellence in our public schools. Relatives and deployed loved ones can watch the telethon Live via Internet Streaming through the CSF website or locally on Time Warner Cable Channel 19.
