Raises Funds for a San Diego Public School in Need
SAN DIEGO (Oct. 26, 2010) In an effort to help children and parents build healthier lunches together, Loews Coronado Bay Resort is hosting a “Build a Better Lunchbox” event on Nov. 13, 2010. Proceeds will be used to fund much-needed playground equipment for the kindergarten students of Alice Birney Elementary School.
Open to the public, the “Build a Better Lunchbox” event will include cooking demonstrations by Loews’ Chefs, five “food group” food stations, berry tastings by a Driscoll’s strawberry farmer, interactive games and activities, and a children’s gift bag filled with recipe cards, crayons, helpful tips, coupons and stretchy fruit-shaped bands.
“For years, Loews has been committed to providing healthier food options for families when they travel,” said Ellen Burke Van Slyke, corporate creative director of food & beverage for Loews Hotels. “This event is an extension of that commitment and our pledge to give back to the community.”
Loews Coronado Bay Resort’s “Build a Better Lunchbox” takes place on Saturday, November 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost to attend is $10 for adults and free for children. All proceeds will be used to support Alice Birney Elementary School’s playground, a project listed on Donorschoose.org.
