We reached out to Janie Shaw about relocating her salon from the 100 block of B to the 800 block of Orange Ave. Here is what she had to say about her Coronado story and moving up the road to 874 Orange Avenue:
In 2004 I moved to Coronado with my daughter Lauren so that she could attend the performing arts program C.O.S.A. Lauren has since signed with LA Models and has done two commercials for Ross Stores Inc.
I was unable to fine an opening as an aesthetician in any of the salon’s in town. So, I opened my own place, and called it Sanctuary Skin Care, Located at 132 B Avenue. I quickly discovered that I was ‘undiscovered’ in what I would later refer to as the eagles nest, and my ads read “Coronado’s best keep secret” – not that I wanted to be! I was at this location for 6 years and have since expanded to include a full service salon, which includes 5 stylists, 2 manicurists, 2 aestheticians and a masseuse. We are now called Sanctuary Salon & Spa. This year, we won best salon in Coronado and best Manicurist (Cari Ruiz).
We are now scheduled to open November 1st, 2010 at our new location, 874 Orange Avenue. We are thrilled to be in the heart of Coronado. You will enjoy the beautifully decorated, Tommy Bahama feeling of our Salon. The products we carry are Prive, Enjoy, PCA Skin and Rhonda Allison.
Thanks,
Janie Shaw
