Soccer: CHS Girls Take Sixth Win, First Loss of the Season

Last Thursday, the CHS Girls’ Varsity Soccer team was hosted by La Jolla Country Day and the Islanders showed a strong defensive game. Junior Lucy Holland (outside back) and sophomore Emily Hunter (center back) played an excellent defense to keep their opponents out of the goal for the duration of the game. “Emily is usually the smallest player on the field but is willing (and successful) to battle any opponent,” says Coach Mike Costaglio. “Avery Dozier continues to be a dominant force for 80 minutes.” With Shelby Linde’s six saves in the goal, the Islanders took the win, 1-0.

On Saturday, Coronado played Westview High School. Although the Islanders had difficulty on defense, junior Julia Williams scored a thirty-yard goal. Westview was the victor 3-1 resulting in the Islanders first loss of the season.

The Islanders current season record is six wins to one loss to two ties.

Upcoming Games:
  • Wednesday, January 9 vs. Clairemont High School @ 5:15 PM (Away)
  • Friday, January 11 vs. Lincoln High School @ 5:15 PM (Home)
