This past week, the Islander Girls’ Water Polo team played consecutive games against Laguna Beach and El Camino High Schools. On Wednesday, the team went up to Orange County to play what proved to be a tough game against Laguna Beach. Coronado’s top scorer was senior Sheila Tomlin, who scored three goals, while senior Abby Sylvester scored two more in the fourth quarter. In the goal, sophomore Ella Farley had seven total saves against her opponent’s strong offense. The final score was a 5-19 loss for the Islanders.

The following day, the team hosted El Camino High School for a complete turnaround game. Tomlin, once again, was the top scorer with five goals, followed by senior Reese Oliver who scored four. Oliver has committed to UCSB and will play Division I water polo next winter. Freshman Michelle Croteau had three saves in the first half with two assists and has shown immense skill as a new player on the varsity team. Coronado won 17-8 at the end of the fourth quarter.

The team’s current record is one win to three losses.

Upcoming Games:
  • Wednesday, December 19 vs. Foothill High School in Santa Ana, CA @ 5:00 PM
  • Saturday, December 22 vs. Los Alamitos High School at the BBMAC @ 1:00 PM
