With a no-loss season record, the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team continues to dominate this past week. Thursday’s match against Mater Dei High School proved to be an excellent defensive game from both teams. Goalkeeper Shelby Linde kept her opponents from scoring with eleven saves. With an assist by Avery Dozier, Riley McGrath was able to score their only goal, defeating Mater Dei 1-0.

On Friday, Coronado hosted Fallbrook High School for what might have looked like the Islanders’ first loss. By the end of the first half, Coronado was down 2-0. This was followed by outstanding offensive play. Gracie Gehler scored two goals, while Ella Oden and Madison Shanks each scored one. With an own goal by Fallbrook, Coronado came back to win 5-3. “This was a ‘wow’ game by the entire team,” says Coach Mike Costaglio.

The team currently holds a five-game win streak, as they are now six wins to one tie in the season.
