Coronado Rotarians welcomed PriceSmart CEO Jose Luis Laparte who spoke about the evolution of the company from its early days as FedMart and Price Club. PriceSmart is recreating the Price Club/membership retail model in the Caribbean and Central America, with 40 Clubs in 13 countries (from Guatemala to Colombia). The company employs 8,000 people worldwide (400 in the U.S). PriceSmart’s annual sales are $2.7 billion and they have 1.5 million members. The company’s headquarters are in San Diego as the company is keeping its roots here.
