Girls’ tennis continues to dominate this season with an almost-spotless record. After a long injury, Tuesday’s match against The Academy of Our Lady of Peace (OLP) marked the return for Alejandra Gonzalez to the tennis court. As part of a tough team, OLP’s Line 1 Singles player swept all three of her matches against Coronado’s singles lineup. The rest of the singles play resulted in victories for Coronado, which held true for the doubles as well. Only one set was dropped for Coronado’s doubles teams, in a close set of 6-4. Elsa Östermarker and Olivia Strong played exceptionally, Coach Moore commented, sweeping all three of their sets, 7-5, 6-1, and 6-1. The final score for Coronado was 14 sets to 4.

Thursday’s match proved a little more difficult for Coronado. Coach Moore said that it was, “the best all-around match to date, defeating La Jolla High School.” The doubles teams, once again, won eight out of nine sets. The top doubles team, who swept all three of their matches, was Ellie Johnson and Marla Steel. Line 2 Singles player Hannah Quirk won two of her sets, losing the third to the Line 1 Singles player in a close set of 3-6. The overall score was 13 sets to 5.

In the accumulation of all the matches of the season, the team’s record is 7 wins to 1 loss. The matches against the Western League have resulted in a streak of 3 wins.
