Lifeguard/Title 22 Class Offered at the Coronado Aquatics Center

If you have ever wanted to become a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard, here is your chance! Beginning June 1, through June 4th, Lifeguard Training and Title 22 Class will be offered at the Coronado Aquatics Center and will include lifeguard training, CPR, AED and Title 22. This certification will allow you to be hired as a lifeguard in any California aquatics facility that follow the American Red Cross Certification Program.

Candidates must be at least 15 years old and able to swim continuously using breast stroke or free style for 300 yards; tread water for two minutes with hands in the air and compete a timed swim: one minute and 40 seconds to swim 20 yards, retrieve a ten pound brick from 7 to 10 feet of water and then swim the brick back 20 yards with head and brick out of the water and then climb out of the pool.

Students must attend every class and can register by walking into the Coronado Community Center located at 1845 Strand Way; call in to (619) 522-7342 or on-line at www.coronado.ca.us/recreation (barcode 14960).  The fee for the class is $200 with additional fees for books and Red Cross services.  Register NOW spaces are filling up!
