The Silver Strand Chapters of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and Navy League will hold the second of their six annual dinner meetings on Monday 17 April, at 6:00pm, at the Coronado Yacht Club. This event, hosted by MOAA will recognize the Mar Vista and Coronado High School graduating seniors who have accepted Service Academy appointments and ROTC scholarships to many of the best universities in the country.
The featured speaker for the event will be Mr. Phil Pressel, who was the project engineer in charge of the design of the camera system used in the formerly top secret Hexagon Program’s KH-9 spy satellite. The CIA’s Hexagon Program began in 1965, and was declassified in September 2011. Mr. Pressel and the Hexagon Satellite Program were featured on the CNN program “Declassified” which aired in September 2016. He has also written a book about this once highly classified program called Meeting the Challenge: The Hexagon KH-9 Reconnaissance Satellite. Publication of Mr. Pressel’s book was approved by both the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and the CIA.
As seating is limited it is suggested that MOAA and NL members make reservations early.
