Don Hill is a former, long-time, on-and-off resident of the Crown City.  He and his wife, Barbara, bought their first Coronado house in 1972.  As a Navy man, his family came and went many times to and from Coronado over the years.  In 1988 Don retired from the Navy and they moved back to Coronado where their kids, Jen and Geoff, graduated from CHS in ’89 and ’92, respectively.  Jen and Geoff partnered with Hank Morton, and the three of them are currently owners of Bajabound.com, with a brick-and-mortar office in San Diego, several blocks from Petco Park.

Ten years ago, Don retired from his law practice to become a professional photographer. He photographed and published The Coronado Calendar,coronado-calendar-2007which was marketed at Bay Books, the Hotel Del, and more.  He also did photography for Kris Grant’s Coronado Lifestyles magazine.  During that time he became a member of Coronado Rotary and was their unofficial photographer, with a number of his images appearing in the Coronado Eagle & Journal.

In 2010, Don and Barb moved to Flagstaff, AZ, where he has continued photography and is a member of The Artists Gallery cooperative in Flagstaff  (http://flagstaffartistsgallery.com/ArtistPages/HillDonal/DonHill.html (website still being upgraded.))

In June of this year Arizona Highways published 18 of Don’s wildlife images in its new wildlife guide, written by Don’s friend, Brooke Bessesen.  (http://www.shoparizonahighways.com/wildlife-guide-125-of-arizonas-native-species).  This coming Saturday, Nov. 5, Don will be at a Barnes & Noble book signing in Flagstaff with Brooke.
