5-31-16 Update: Islanders defeat Canyon Crest 4-3 in 9 innings to make it to the CIF finals. The Islanders play Friday at 3:30pm at The University of San Diego’s (USD) Cunningham Stadium against Del Norte.

The Islanders advanced to the 4th round of the CIF Division Playoffs with a 9-1 win May 27th over San Diego. The game was tight for the first 4 innings at 2-1 Islanders.
Zach Weller opened the game up with a 2 run homer in the 5th, and then the Islanders added 5 more in the bottom of the 6th.
Defensive standout of the game was Trevor Smith who made back to back web jems in the top of the 6th that extinguished any fire San Diego had left. Weller closed the 7th for the Islanders and they moved on to the 4th round.
Thanks to all of our loyal Islander fans. We have not seen the bleachers so full all season. They needed to issue a SIGALERT for the parking at the Sand Lot it was so crowded. Thanks again for all of your support!
The Islanders are scheduled to play on Tuesday the 31st against Canyon Crest as they continue their march toward the final. Because Tuesday’s game is a Semi Final, CIF is charging an admission fee to watch the game (and the teams don’t receive any of it).
