Video: High Surf and Tides Impact Coronado Beaches

Aveninda del Sol has recently been impacted by the high surf and high tides courtesy of El Niño.  In this video, you can see the city workers removing sand from the cul-de-sac and later in the video, the water lapping the steps leading to the ‘now covered’ sandy beach.

“Pit Beach” continues to be underwater as city workers help to shore up area to prevent the water from damaging the beach path in front of the Hotel del Coronado.  Notice in the background the water that is now past the sea wall of rocks.

More rain as early as Friday, according to this report. Be prepared. The City provides sand bags as a courtesy to its residents. Coronado residents in need of sand bags may pick them up at First Street and Alameda Boulevard; Fourth Street and Alameda; at North Beach; and the Cays across the street from the Cays Fire Station.
