CHULA VISTA — Two decades have passed since the Coronado High football team has hung a championship banner in the gym.
After Saturday night, the Islanders will have to dust off a spot.
In what turned into a defensive struggle in the second half, top-seeded Coronado outlasted No. 2 Crawford 21-7 in the San Diego Section Division V championship game at Southwestern College.
The Islanders advance to the Southern California Regionals with the pairings announced next Sunday.
