Coronado is “Catching Fire”

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is a movie-to-book translation in its prime. Judging from the $161.1 million dollars the film drew in during its opening weekend, fans of the series are nothing but pleased. Under new director Francis Lawrence (no relation to Jennifer), Katniss’ heroism truly comes to life. Not only is the movie visually stunning, the cast proves their worth with character renditions that aim to serve Suzanne Collins’ trilogy to a tee.
The film centers around heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and her life after surviving her Hunger Games competition. She soon realizes that her trials are long-lasting tribulations, however, as the Capitol’s President Snow orders the victors of the previous Hunger Games into the 75th Annual Hunger Games (also known as the 3rd Quarter Quell), in which 24 victors compete to the death for one overarching winner. Or, as Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) reminds the crowd, one “survivor. There are no winners”. Katniss fights for her life in the Games, and outside of them, fights to navigate her feelings for Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson). The three create a love triangle that does not mirror its clichéd movie predecessors, but is a seemingly realistic struggle to find which love suits Katniss best. If that was not enough for one character to battle, Katniss senses that a rebellion is in the wings, and she must be the symbol, or the Mockingjay.

Moviegoer Melissa Stubbs commented that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was “edge of your seat engaging. Waiting and wondering what would happen next, for those who haven’t read the books; true to the books, for those who have. You leave knowing that Katniss is coming back with a vengeance.”
