Once again, the Coronado ACF is overpopulated with dogs and cats, 53 to be exact and this number does not include the pets currently in foster care. As many of you know, the ACF is an awesome facility, but we are out of room and all our foster families are at their maximum with pets.
Please pass the word that we are always looking for temporary foster homes that can help out in our time of need at PAWS of Coronado. Also, encourage your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family members to consider adopting a pet from the Coronado ACF. Our pets are very social and extremely happy during their time at the ACF.
Dexter is a two year old, 8 1/2 pound apricot Pomeranian. This little ray of sunshine was found wandering alone at Tidelands Park in Coronado. When found, his coat was badly matted and required clipping to the skin, hence the look of a lion. But, have no fear, there is not a ferocious bone in his body. This happy go lucky guy gets along just fine with other dogs, we are not yet sure how he gets along with cats. He treasures his walks. A great addition to any family, our Dexter is compatible with anyone from kids to grandparents. Come visit him, he will add much happiness to your home for years to come.
Scruffy was found wandering the streets of Coronado as a stray. He is approximately 5 years old, weighs 16 pounds and is a Terrier mix. With his wispy hair, he certainly lives up to his name. This little guy is quiet and gentle. He loves a leisurely walk with time to stop and rub his tummy in the grass. Getting along with other dogs is not a problem for our boy Scruffy. We are not yet sure how he gets along with cats. Volunteers at the Coronado Animal Care Facility think that he has that look of Toto in the Wizard of Oz. Won’t you consider adding Scruffy to your family and let him lead you down the Golden Brick Road of life!
Pepsi is a striking looking DSH Tortoiseshell female kitten born around August 2nd of this year making her about 2-1/2 months old. She was brought to the ACF when someone found her wandering all by herself in an alley off of 10th Street. From the beginning it was apparent that Pepsi has been with humans. She is extremely social and loving and attentive towards everyone. Pepsi is a petite kitten with a lot of spunk. Although the smallest in her cat room, she holds her own with the bigger kittens joining in all of the playtime fun. She is inquisitive and intelligent and loves discovering new toys and games. Once playtime is over, Pepsi is a snuggler with an immediate purr that doesn’t stop. And although a Tortie through and through we have seen so evidence of the infamous tortitude 😉 Won’t you come down to the ACF and meet Pepsi? If you are looking for a beautiful, loving and spirited kitten, she may just be the purrfect feline for you
Cinderella is a female DSH cat estimated to be about 4 years old. She was found as a stray on Adella Avenue- where so many of our black and white cats have come from. She has similar distinctive markings to some of the other cats like Zeus, Adella, Sophie & Stallone that have come to us from that neighborhood. Cinderella is getting used to life at the ACF and is easing into living with Molly, Samantha and Mace. She is a sound sleeper, but once you have her attention she is very affectionate and extremely easy going. Cinderella loves sitting on the windowsill and watching the birds while she enjoys the warmth of the sun. Won’t you consider giving Cinderella a forever home for her fairy tale ending?
You can meet other dogs and cats available for adoption at the Coronado Animal Care Facility (ACF) on 1395 First Street. Hours of operation are 9am – 4pm, every day but major holidays. To see and read about other animals needing homes, please view our websites: pawsofcoronado.org and petfinder.com. All our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped and current on their immunizations prior to their adoption. With school back in session, consider adding a pet to your home to act as a Study Buddy to keep the children company while they do their homework assignments. The stress of test taking can be greatly reduced having a furry friend to encourage one to persevere, knowing full well, your buddy is there for you when it’s break time.
