It’s not even finished, but San Diego County’s 24-mile Bayshore Bikeway has already been listed among Sunset Magazine’s “Top 20 best bike paths in the West.”
“Views of the beautiful bay and San Diego skyline makes this palm tree-lined path one of the most memorable in the county,” the June 2012 article states.
The vision for a designated bicycle path that would hug the coast as it wound through the five cities on San Diego Bay was born in 1976 when National City received $50,000 from SANDAG to widen Chollas Creek Bridge on Harbor Drive.
