Coronado- The Coronado Community came together in support of the CSF Telethon on March 16th, raising $161,248 in much-needed funds for Coronado’s public schools. This unique event brings students and teachers together from kindergarten through 12th grade, all working for a common cause, as so aptly demonstrated by the opening theatre act of 5th grade Visual and Performing Arts students from Silver Strand and Village Elementary Schools performing with NJROTC CHS Islander Company Cadets. The experience is memorable for all and strengthens the bond between schools.
Time Warner Cable’s ongoing support as Presenting Partner has enabled CSF to take this event from Village Hall just four short years ago, to the CHS Performing Arts Center where the final tally has doubled from $80,000 to over $160,000 each of the past three years. Additionally, Time Warner Cable encourages the involvement and education of CHS digital media and theatre technical students, giving them valuable hands-on experience with the production.
Producing Partner for the sixth year, Martial Arts America, and Hour Partners- Hotel del Coronado, Mullins Orthodontics, Willis Allen Real Estate, and NadoLife restaurants Village Pizzeria/Mootime/Lil’ Piggy’s Bar-B-Q/Leroy’s Lucky Lounge (opening soon), along with Underwriting Partners-Alexander’s Pizza, BE Styled, Chicago Title, CMG Mortgage, LPL Financial, Nicoll’s Design, Spiro’s Gyros and Wells Fargo Coronado provided significant underwriting support, totaling over $27,000 this year. Coronado Schools Foundation acknowledges the significant support of these local businesses for their support of our kids, teachers and classrooms.
Fred Eckert of Chicago Title returned as the Roving Reporter and captured the excitement of the games, food and folks live in the CHS Quad. Jane Mitchell, Channel 4 San Diego and CHS alum, again graciously hosted more than three hours of action in the theatre. Their talents, along with the assistance of CHS senior hosts, and CUSD Administrators, channeled the combined efforts of over 1,000 students and volunteers to exceed the $160,000 goal! The music of CHS Battle of the Bands winner “Yacht Rock”, comprised of talented CHS juniors, ended the evening on a high note with their spirited performance.
