Homework reduction proposal fails in Coronado

CORONADO — The Coronado school board has rejected a proposal to eliminate homework on the weekends and during holiday breaks.

Superintendent Jeffrey Felix made the proposal following a January screening of the education documentary “Race to Nowhere: The Dark Side of America’s Achievement Culture.” The film focuses on how pressures to succeed in school and excessive homework can lead to overworked, stressed and depressed students.
