The 23-year-old from Coronado will travel to Oxford University in England, where the scholarship will pay all expenses for a two-year master’s program. The value of Rhodes scholarships, which were announced Sunday, averages about $50,000 a year.
Braun completed her courses at UCI in July. She earned a degree in history with a minor in philosophy. She spent five weeks over the summer at Cambridge University in England, studying war crimes law.
“That exposure to a new culture, new curriculum and a new way of thinking definitely expanded my horizons,” she said.
She’s looking forward to continuing her studies on international relations in England, especially experiencing the hands-on teaching style and tight-knit university community.
