We’re a grassroots committee of neighbors who live and work in Coronado and who are concerned that too much money has already been spent on a proposed tunnel. Enough is enough! We are going to help residents understand this issue so that they can make an informed vote on June 8, 2010.
You can contact us at: [email protected] or visit our website.
The City Council has adopted language for this vote that is very confusing to read. The tunnel project itself is a separate and specific issue for a no or yes vote, but they have muddied the question by adding extra words and concepts. Coronado residents will always look for ways to improve traffic flow and find solutions.
But after 10 years and over $15 million for a study that had a completion due-date of 2003, we want to exclude the tunnel from more study. Enough is enough! The word funding means “our tax money.” Our many reasons for believing the tunnel idea is “DOA” are mentioned on other pages of this site. Fiscal responsibility would demand our city to stop the spending, now.
The language on the June ballot will read: “Do you support the city continuing to use and seek federal, state and local funding to complete the study of long-term traffic-relief options, including a tunnel, between the Coronado Bridge and Naval Air Station North Island?”
Please vote NO so that we will have money available to implement realistic traffic relief!
