California’s Devastating Drought Conditions Inspires Million-Gallon Solution (Coronado Inventor)

Irrigation expert and handyman-turned-inventor will save California and the nation millions of gallons in wasted water from broken sprinkler systems. Coronado, CA- www.NoMoreGeysers.com If necessity is the mother of invention, then this baby is going to create a flood of interest from government agencies, major developers, home owner associations, landlords, and anyone else responsible for paying ever-rising water bills throughout Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and elsewhere. Chris Eader is the inventor of the No More Geysers Riser, a patent-pending automatic shut-off valve for broken sprinkler heads. “We’ve all seen those broken sprinklers flooding the freeway or a neighbor’s driveway. The problem is, because of early morning irrigation times, most broken sprinklers go unnoticed for days, weeks, or months,” says Eader. The wasted water not only costs money, it depletes a valuable resource, lowers water pressure in the irrigation system, adds to run-off pollution, causes erosion and on occasion is suspected of contributing to devastating landslides in sloped areas. “The simplicity of this product is what makes it so amazingly affordable,” says Eader. A broken sprinkler head can waste close to 100 gallons of water per 10 minute cycle. That can quickly add up to thousands of gallons of scarce and expensive water when a break goes unnoticed. In his years as a handyman and irrigation system installer, Eader often had to deal with broken sprinkler heads. Unfortunately he usually got the call well after the sprinkler head had broken, causing damage to landscaping and property. “I invented this product to take the ?mergency’ out of these repairs,” Eader says. “Now that serious water restrictions have gone into place throughout Southern California, the high cost of broken sprinkler heads now goes way beyond landscape and property damage. The cost of water is about to skyrocket and every wasted drop is going to come right out of our checkbooks.” The innovative product is easily retrofitted into any sprinkler system without digging, gluing, or cutting. Eader worked for years trying to find a solution to this common problem, and once he devised his simple but unique system for ending water geysers from broken sprinklers, he knew he was onto something big. He hired one of the best patent law firms in the country, Fish & Richardson, to help him protect his idea. The patent has been applied for and the final approval is expected in the coming months. “The demand is growing for our technology and we’re ramping up our production right now. We don’t expect to meet all of the production demand for the No More Geysers Riser by the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas, but we’re working very hard to be as ready as we can be. Right now it’s going to be first come first serve for the big retailers, but eventually we believe we’ll have the No More Geysers Riser in every hardware and irrigation supply store in the country, and soon the world.” Eader fully expects his invention will be available in stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Ace, and other traditional hardware stores in the near future. He is already selling smaller quantities through his website. A video demonstration of his unique innovation has been posted on his website and a number of television stations have featured his water-saving technology in their newscasts. Some of those stories are also available on the site. The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California has awarded No More Geysers a grant to implement a test program. Caltrans is looking at using the no more geysers riser as well. Members of Governor Schwarzenegger’s staff have purchased and are testing the No More Geysers Risers. Governmental agencies have a serious problem in managing broken sprinklers. “In addition to the cost of wasted water, the amount of man power it takes to find and fix a broken sprinkler, and then deal with the record keeping process, is mind boggling,” said one government official who asked to remain anonymous. And this doesn’t even touch on potential liability from accidents caused by water overrun on streets and sidewalks.
