Automated Rubbish Collection Coming this week (Nov 2-6), EDCO will implement a new and convenient waste collection service in your neighborhood. Residential customers will receive a new wheeled GREY trash container for household waste! Your current collection day may change. You will receive notification of your new service day in the informational packet that will be attached to your new cart when it is delivered. Why Automated Collection? Fully automated waste collection is a state-of-the-art waste removal system that is extremely efficient and results in a clean and orderly appearance on waste collection day. EDCO’s fleet of automated collection trucks are equipped with a robotic arm that mechanically lifts and empties the new automated waste carts into the truck. EDCO Will Deliver New Waste Carts to Coronado Residents Residents will receive-at no cost-one new trash container from EDCO. This new 95-gallon capacity cart will hold as much trash as three standard trash cans. The new trash carts have an attached lid that is great for sealing your trash and keeping animals out. The attached lids are also good for stormwater pollution prevention. Each cart also comes with a set of wheels which will help make moving containers to the street much easier. Residents with size limitations or space constraints are asked to call our office. A field representative will be happy to review and assist in your situation.
When Do We Start? New automated trash carts will be delivered to all residents between November 2 – November 6, 2009. An information tag attached to your new trash cart will provide verification of each resident’s service day and off er any other pertinent information. New automated trash collection will begin for each resident the week following the delivery of their new cart. What Do I Do With My Old Trash Cans? Don’t toss out your old trash cans. Your old rigid waste containers can be used to separate green waste for recycling. Recyclable yard waste includes: grass clippings, flowers, brush, tree trimmings, leaves, and weeds. If you want to throw away your old trash cans EDCO collectors will remove them after the start of the new automated waste collection program. Please place your old empty cans beside your new automated cart on your service day for your EDCO collector to pick up. Automated Cart vs. Trash Cans Use to collect household trash. Automated carts should be set out in front of your residence, at street level, with the cart wheels against the curb, if applicable. Use your old trash cans to separate yard waste for recycling. What To Do On Collection Day * Set out your trash cart, recycling cart and yard waste recycling cans at the curb in front of your home prior to 6 a.m. on your scheduled service day. * Arrows on the lid of your trash and recycling cart should point toward the street. * Keep a minimum of two (2) feet distance between the trash cart, recycling cart and yard waste cans and three (3) feet from obstructions such as parked cars, mail boxes, trees and telephone poles. * Please do not overload your trash cart. Do not over fill the automated cart so as to prevent the cart lid from properly closing. * Please be careful not to place carts in areas of traffic, such as bike lanes, in order to avoid blocking paths of travel.
