Cops and Robbers: Grand Theft Results in a $14,000 Loss from Unlocked Vehicle

Thanks to the Coronado Police Department for providing The Coronado Times with the below information (partial list):

Crimes:

5/2/18-5/3/18: Petty Theft near 900 block of Cabrillo Avenue

Victim reported that an unknown suspect entered his vehicle, which was parked in his residential driveway, and took property from within the vehicle. The total estimated loss is $350.

5/2/18: Burglary of the First Degree near 100 block of Tunapuna Lane

Unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence and stole prescribed medicine from the medicine cabinet in her bathroom. The loss is zero dollars since the medication was covered by the insurance company.

4/30/18-5/1/18: Grand Theft Property near 700 block of Guadalupe Avenue

Several personal items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in front of the residence at the location. The stolen property was valued at approximately $14,150.

4/30/18: Petty Theft near 600 block of D Avenue

Unknown suspect stole an unlocked bicycle from a bicycle rack at the front of the location.

4/30/18: Obtaining Money by False Pretenses near 800 block of B Avenue

Unknown suspect identified himself as an Apple employee and had the victims buy and then send an Apple iTunes card information in order to fix an apple product. The value of the property loss is $500.

4/29/18: Petty Theft near 1100 block of Adella Avenue

Unknown suspect stole the victim’s locked bicycle after cutting the cable lock from the bike racks at the front of the location.

4/28/18: Burglary of the Second Degree near 800 block of Orange Avenue

Unidentified suspect entered the location, selected two bottles of champagne, concealed the bottles in his waistband underneath his shirt, and walked out of the store without paying for the items.

4/27/18: Malicious Mischief/Vandalism (Misdemeanor) near 2000 block of Mullinix Drive

Unknown suspect used a permanent black marker to vandalize the inside of the men’s restroom at Tidelands Park. The cost to remove the marker is unknown at this time.

4/26/18-4/27/18: Burglary of the Second Degree near 800 block of Coronado Avenue

Unknown suspect removed various tools and equipment from the location. The stolen tools and equipment are valued at $1,700 total.

4/26/18: Fraudulent Use of Account Information near 1000 block of Orange Avenue

Unknown suspect took the victim’s wallet from her work locker, containing the victim’s credit cards and $150 cash. The suspect used victim’s credit cards in order to purchase goods/services without the victim’s permission.

4/26/18: Defrauding an Innkeeper near 100 block of Orange Avenue

Subjects checked into a SoCal Premier Properties vacation rental and remained until forced out by property management. Attempts by property management to collect payment were unsuccessful, leaving the property with a total loss of $2,500.

4/25/18-4/26/18: Petty Theft near 1500 block of Second Street

Victim’s bicycle was stolen from underneath a public staircase in an apartment building. The rear tire was locked to the frame. The bicycle was valued at approximately $500.

5/3/18: Possession of Controlled Substance – Misdemeanor near 300 block of Orange Avenue

4/30/18: Shoplifting – Misdemeanor near 100 block of C Avenue

51 year old male

4/28/18: Inflicting Corporal Injury on Spouse/Cohabitant – Felony near 700 block of E Avenue

53 year old male

4/27/18: Grand Theft Property – Felony near 1200 block of Sixth Street
