The Navy is reporting that seven Navy personnel have tested positive for swine flu, bringing the number of cases to 23, a Navy spokesman said Monday. Of the seven new cases, five are assigned to the San Diego-based amphibious transport dock Dubuque, which brings that ship’s total cases to 17. Pacific Fleet canceled the amphib’s June 1 deployment because of the number of crew members who required treatment. An additional 34 Dubuque crew members who exhibited flu-like symptoms still are being tested for the virus, also known as H1N1, said Lt. Cmdr. John Daniels, a Navy spokesman at the Pentagon. The other two new cases were reported at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, Calif. One was a student undergoing Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training. Daniels said he had no further information on the second case. Read the entire NavyTimes article here.
