The 7.2 magnitude Easter Sunday earthquake near Mexicali produced a 4.5 aftershock at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday centered near Ocotillo and felt in San Diego County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The temblor, which initially was reported as a 5.1, hit an isolated area 11 miles southeast of Ocotillo, a town with fewer than 400 people and located more than 70 miles east of San Diego and Tijuana in Imperial County.
