Last Friday, the Islanders’ Varsity Football team traveled to Clairemont High School and captured their fifth win of the season. “We haven’t been changing much up, but just getting better at the little things we do,” says Coach Kurt Hines. “More and more guys are starting to buy into the program, and it’s paying off on Friday nights.” On the offensive line, senior Nicholas Dunn scored half of Coronado’s touchdowns. Junior James Witthoft had a “pick-six,” which is a touchdown after the defense intercepts the ball. Also on defense, the player with the most tackles was senior Bryce Alexander, with a total of thirteen. Friday night’s final score was 45-6.
The team’s current record is five wins to one loss. Stay strong, Islanders!
