Despite having some of its largest and most iconic meeting spaces closed for restoration, Coronado Island continues to be among the Top 50 Group Meeting Destinations in America.

Cvent, which is used by 145,000 meeting planners to schedule conferences, conventions and seminars, has ranked Coronado Island 42nd out of 14,000 cities evaluated. Other, much larger cities such as Baltimore, Tempe, Colorado Springs and Columbus ranked below Coronado.
During 2024, Coronado Island welcomed 55,792 meeting attendees. While the total was limited by the restorations, group meetings in Coronado occupied 119,692 hotel rooms. The overall economic impact was $122M, including $84.3M in visitor spending with local merchants. That equals $231,000 being spent each day from group meeting programs in Coronado.

Conferences and group seminars typically occur in Coronado’s off-season, with most meetings taking place during September, October, January and February. Conventions and conference attendees often explore their meeting destination, which leads to improved sales at local shops, restaurants and services.
While the Victorian meeting spaces at the Hotel del Coronado were being restored, other meeting spaces were available at The Del, including the 15,000 sq. ft. Southpointe Event Center. Loews Coronado Bay Resort, Coronado Island Marriott Resort, and Glorietta Bay Inn excelled at welcoming additional groups, helping Coronado’s Top 50 ranking
The completion of the Hotel del Coronado’s restoration this June will likely result in Coronado climbing higher in Cvent ranking for 2025.
