On Saturday morning, October 5, around 11am, Air and Marine Operations agents conducting surveillance spotted a suspicious vessel west of Coronado. Agents watched the vessel as it landed at Coronado Ferry Landing and coordinated with U.S. Border Patrol agents on land regarding its position. According to Border Patrol agent Theron Francisco, Border Patrol, working in collaboration with other federal partners, apprehended 13 subjects as they were exiting the boat and getting into waiting vehicles. At the same time, a crew aboard an AMO (Air and Marine Operations) Coastal Interceptor vessel took custody of the boat at the public dock near Ferry Landing. The 13 subjects are currently in custody. Agents have identified multiple principals and will be pursuing smuggling charges against them. The vessel and two vehicles were seized.
