  • 92118 DayThe City Council received a request in October from Coronado resident Steve Johnson to hold a Major Special Event on September 21, 2018, to celebrate Coronado. The date was chosen because it matches the City’s zip code — 92118. The Council approved the date of the event and asked Johnson to return with a budget and proposal at a future Council meeting. Event organizers have been working to develop a proposal for a community event to honor the City and community that will take place around Central Beach and on nearby streets involving food vendors, live music, a beer garden, and beach activities such as volleyball and sandcastle building. Johnson said organizers have contacted residents in the vicinity to gauge support and hear concerns. The Council will review the proposal at a future meeting.
